June My Lit Box: Home, Identity & Rebellion

May 1, 2018

Although my goal each quarter is to select three titles that deliver a unique experience, it’s still nice when I’m still able to identify a common theme among the three books. The titles we’ll feature in June’s boxes touch on the idea of identity, who we are and who we want to be.

In our Adult Fiction box, you can look forward to a story where the intersecting lives of multiple characters reveal the personal history of one, as he struggles with the fact that his efforts to stay in the place he calls home may be the very thing that drives him away. “Should I stay I should I go?” isn’t just a question he asks himself, but one that many of the characters in this novel have to mull over.

Our Yay for YA! Lit Box will temporarily pull you out of the dark realities that have surrounded many high school campuses as of late. With the tragedies that have unfolded lately, we’ve seen students respond in ways that have left us in awe of their maturity and grace. But you can’t help but wish it wasn’t necessary, instead, longing for the days when students were more concerned with figuring out their future selves like the main character in next month’s YA selection.

Whether you read “rebel” as the noun or the verb, it fits the novel included in our Black Women are Lit! Box. Our June selection will introduce you to characters who challenge what is expected of them in search of a different kind of life.

So there you have it, a small sneak peek into the stories that await you. As quickly as May arrived, it will leave so don’t wait too long to claim your June My Lit Box. If you’re already subscribed to My Lit Box, there’s nothing more you need to do and you can simply look forward to what’s in store.

If you have yet to join the #MyLitBox family, we look forward to welcoming you to this community where we believe books are magic! So what are you waiting for?  Visit our shop and don’t forget to tell a friend to tell a friend to tell a friend!
